ATROCITY, LEAVES' EYES Part Ways With Drummer NICK BARKER

May 26, 2008

Long-running German metallers ATROCITY and LEAVES' EYES the German/Norwegian band formed by ex-THEATRE OF TRAGEDY singer Liv Kristine Espenaes Krull and members of ATROCITY have issued the following statement:

"ATROCITY and LEAVES' EYES are sorry to inform you that Nick Barker [drums; ex-DIMMU BORGIR, CRADLE OF FILTH] cannot continue to play with the bands due to a drastic change in his private life. The bands wish Nick all the best in his future life and we hope that he will feel better very soon! Drummer Peter Hornung stepped into the breach for Nick at short notice for the shows at the Gottlieb Daimler Stadium and Rockmania Festival, so that the band was able to play the shows."

In other news, the two bands have made the following joint announcement:

"The already planned tour in China and Taiwan unfortunately had to be postponed until further notice. It hopefully will take place in autumn this year. Both bands are deeply touched by the momentary situation in the disaster areas and feel deep sympathy for all the people involved."

ATROCITY's video for the band's cover of the A-HA track "The Sun Always Shines On TV" can be viewed below. The song comes off the German group's new album, "Werk 80 II", which entered the Austrian chart at position No. 74. The CD also landed on the on the Deutsche Alternative Trendcharts (DAT20) at No. 14.

"Werk 80 II" was made available as a digipack deluxe edition, featuring different cover art from the regular version, along with the first "Werk 80" album and bonus tracks.

Like the first "Werk 80" release, which came out in 1997, "Werk 80 II" features ATROCITY's interpretations of hit songs from the '80s.
